Individuals

If you are interested in individual sessions with me, you can expect a warm, compassionate presence combined with evidenced based interventions.

We work together to help you reach your goals, to manage and/or lower symptoms and I provide any helpful psychoeducation along the way.

In my practice, I regularly use EMDR and CBT from a strong solutions focused approach, to treat and help manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, any trauma-related symptomatology, to a general feeling of something being “off”. Clients often report deep and lasting improvements in their Life with a greater sense of awareness via EMDR approaches which include somatic therapeutic techniques.

Often my clients are seeking support when going through a Life Transition including issues arising with: school, career, separation, divorce, marriage, birth, illness and death of a loved one.

I am authorized to provide counselling services with you if you have a claim with ICBC; use your extended health benefits or claim counselling services as a medical expense, eligible for tax credit.

If requested, I can provide medical legal reports when/if needed regarding personal injury. I have extensive experience working with individuals and families that have experienced an MVA, both in the Toronto area, and across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver.

I have also travelled across ON, AB, and BC working in vocational rehabilitation consulting and counselling, assisting people on medical leave to return to the workforce safely when indicated. I am trained and have worked in the EAP counselling field, helping individuals and families in the work force with any issue they may have.

If helpful, please request a 10 minute free consultation to determine if my practice is a good fit for you.

Couples

Couples often arrive in the counselling office frustrated and tired of cyclical conflict patterns... I'm here to help with that.

You can learn how to understand and manage the difficult emotions that get triggered in partnership conflict and see your relationship through a new lens, for a more clear vision, with a deeper sense of fulfillment. We'll look at how you got to where you are in your relationship, and assist you with the tools you'll need for the challenging growth inherent in our partnerships.

I truly hope to normalize ‘enmeshment stuff’, see the positives of it, but importantly help you to understand the limits this places on a relationship and provide a path beyond the ‘blame and defend’ cycles of conflict that are so common to us humans.

Often couples leave sessions feeling better understood with improved pathways for connection and communication, but this can take time and focus and commitment.

I know that in my own couples work, getting beyond my defences, reactions and personalizations, were/are, tantamount to my own differentiation. That capacity of “unhooking” was liberating, nourishing and wholly fulfilling. The improved awareness that is possible, using the metaphor of ‘widening the canvas,’ feels like a birthright that with time and work, is possible and so deserving for us all.

Deepening your connection with your partner at any time in the Life span is a great choice, and can help with minor and major Life decisions and transitions. For those seeking assistance about ending a relationship can be supported in their contemplation and decision-making.

I am trained in the Bader-Pearson Developmental Model and have studied Gottman and Imago theories. They actually all relay similar themes with helpful tools to get you where you want to be.

At times couples can benefit from doing some individual sessions on issues that may have come up within the couples counselling and then return to the couples work.

You can expect me to offer redirections and coaching w regards to finding helpful ways to communicate and relay functional communication that encourages growth, real change, ownership, accountability and connection.
